Rochdale Borough Children’s Council (RBCC) are working to make life better for children across the borough, whilst also having some great fun!  The Children’s Champion and Deputy have some exciting events coming up including the opening of the Rochdale Literature and Ideas Festival, the switching on of the Christmas lights with the MYP, speaking at the Mayor’s Youth Awards, interviewing MYP candidates and attending a local Question Time event.  Over summer they led some fundraising events including a fun run around Hollingworth Lake and sponging youth workers and performed on stage at the Music in the Park event.

They are working on the Children’s Champion manifesto points which are to improve internet safety, open more clubs for children outside schools and provide more free swimming for children.  They are also continuing the no smoking campaign and encouraging adults to stop smoking, especially around children.  They represent the voice of children across Rochdale, Heywood, Middleton, Milnrow, Newhey and Littleborough, so if you have any issues which you want to talk to them about, please e-mail angela.mccormack@Rochdale.gov.uk

If you would like to join the Children’s Council, their next meeting is on Saturday 19th November, 10:00 – 12:00 at Matthew Moss Youth Centre.
