No Smoking Campaign Poster Competition

  The former Rochdale Borough children’s Champion, Zara Shah, was keen to campaign to stop adults smoking around children.  Zara met with Rochdale’ Smoking Cessation Team and discussed how they could work together to tackle this issue of passive smoking.  They agreed to do a ‘no smoking poster competition’ and every primary school across the borough was given the opportunity to allow their students to take part and design a poster which would encourage adults to quit smoking, or at least stop smoking around children. 237 posters were returned to Rochdale Youth Service!  Lisa Barker and Ve Nutter from...

Greater Manchester Youth Assembly (GMYA)

During the summer holidays, members of RBYC attended the Greater Manchester Youth Assembly (GMYA) meeting with young people from across all areas of Greater Manchester – Rochdale, Oldham, Bury, Wigan, Bolton, Salford, Tameside, Trafford, Manchester and Stockport..  They get together to work on a larger scale to tackle issues affecting all local authorities such as transport, health and education.  During this meeting, they discussed and voted on which points should or shouldn’t be added to their manifesto as issues to work and campaign on and will meet again soon to put a plan of action in place.
